Mission

Mission Statement

To develop a Comprehensive Strategic Plan for South Los Angeles Religious Leaders and Clergy. UJCC has developed a community action partnership for economic employment and community revitalization.

It is the mission of United Job Creation Council (UJCC) to increase access to job interview preparation, job training and retention opportunities for at risk youth, teens and disadvantaged local population.

Statement of Purpose

To advocate for at risk teens, provide job training and local hiring in construction and other industries. To coordinate job placement and on the job training of at risk and local residents, many of whom are low income, throughout the cities and county of Los Angeles, CA, USA.

Objective

To improve the social and economic status of disadvantaged communities through increased job preparation, training and retention opportunities and to enhance the overall quality of life for the disadvantaged.

Goal

To enlist committed religious leaders and clergy of South Los Angeles who will organize, develop, prioritize and provide leadership in addressing community issues and risk factors through a holistic approach.

Our goal is to also make systemic, policy, regulatory and legislative changes that increase access to job preparation, training and retention for the local at risk and disadvantaged population.

Our overall goal is to advance positive change for poor people and to ensure that the at risk and low income population has opportunities for quality employment, contractual and educational opportunities.

Short Term Goal of UJCC

With the passage of the recent Construction Bonds by the people of the State of California it is anticipated that California will generate thousands of jobs in the immediate future.

It is our goal to prepare the at risk, working poor and disadvantaged population to obtain and maintain employment within this growing industry and to help small contractors qualify and receive contracts.

Role of the Faith Community

The United Job Creation Council (UJCC) was conceived out of the heart, to be the voice of men and women who are in extreme pain.
We see the role of the faith community in this campaign as the catalyst to offer healing:

* spiritually
* mentally
* emotionally
* physically

UJCC is not just about jobs, it is about lifting people up who have been dropped, displaced and forgotten. Our concept is to meet the needs of the people who live in our neighborhoods surrounding the churches within our communities and the neighborhoods in which we live. In order to create safer communities we need jobs and opportunities.

Depending on their individual capacity and desire, the church will:

* recruit
* evaluate
* train

members of the at-risk and under-served population for employment and contractual opportunities.

UJCC is the glue that will mobilize and bond the churches together.

Why UJCC?

There are several organizations that unite on an as needed basis. However, no other organization has as its sole purpose to sustain a union of these organizations and to:

* identify
* implement
* enforce

positive solutions to universal problems of poor people.

UJCC was formed to serve as the administrative body that facilitates synergy among all vested parties with the goal of building the collective power required to institutionalize systemic and legislative change to meet our collective common goals.
